 Singing with Sylvia for Christmas

Happy 2nd Birthday, and Another on the Way!

Happy 2nd Birthday, and Another on the Way!
Little J just turned 2! I was just looking back at my blog entry after his first birthday.  I said then that it definitely felt as though a year's worth of activities had happened since his birth.  That does not seem to be the case this year; it really does feel like our second year together has flown by.

It seems like yesterday that he took his first steps and now I can barely keep up with him! Our days, which are packed with a dizzying mix of routines and spontaneous activity, have quickly turned into weeks and months.

Lately I have been taking much more mental photos -- partly because my busy boy often shows up as a blur in actual photos these days -- but mostly because I realize how quickly it's all moving around me. "Remember this moment," I tell myself several times a day. (Like this week, when he thought his new big boy birthday gotch were new toques! Or, tonight as we read his bedtime books, and he patted my arm gently and then looked up and gave me a slobbery smooch!)

Perhaps another reason for my heightened awareness of the passage of time, is that my husband and I are now counting down the days to the arrival of #2!  Today, we are about 14 weeks along, which should mean we will meet our baby near the end of May 2011.
I definitely want to soak up these last few months of one-on-one time with my son, before a new little one enters the picture.

In case you are wondering, I did not make my son's super-cute birthday cake. My very talented mother-in-law made this yummy homemade chocolate creation for Little J's Pooh Bear themed party. Thanks, Anne! I don't even want to speculate what sort of a mess would have resulted if we were left to my own cake decorating skills.

  2. Love the toques!

We got a video camera somewhere around the time our son turned 2 - can totally relate to your comment about blurry photos. Every shot was a split second too late to catch the moment.

  3. I feel the same way, and ofter ask myself: how can this get any sweeter? Maybe you'll have the answer in May! I'm happy for you and your family!

  4. Aww Congratulations Laura to you and your family.

When we met back in May at the Smiling Mask presentation, I had just found out I was expecting #3 and yes I completely understand how a blur occurs as my now 2 and 4 year olds do not sit still for any period of time. Best of luck in the coming months and Happy Holiday season to you and yours!! Raylene Dodd
