 Singing with Sylvia for Christmas

me, a blog & a cup of nog

It's 11:50 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and I'm blogging.

I'm still in Oklahoma with family for the holidays. There are five other adults and two babies in the house and everyone is in bed except for me.

It just seems wrong to snooze through the thrilling passage of time between a year of memories and a new year of possibilities. As the sandy snow of December passes through the hourglass, my gaze always seems to get stuck somewhere in between my own reflection in the rearview mirror and the horizon ahead. Although I'd like to say I am completely at ease with myself just as I am and that I refuse to buy in to all the self-improvement marketing messages that always abound as the year turns, it just wouldn't be entirely true.

I love the hopeful feeling of cracking open a brand new day planner. What will these coming 365 days hold? What new things will I discover? With whom and for what shall I share the undocumented moments?  How can I make sure I grow as a person by Dec. 31, 2010?

The stroke of midnight also signals the beginning of a new career focus for myself and a new place for discovery, sharing and growth for Saskatoon parents as saskmom.com officially hatches in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Happy new year! (woot-woot!)

Time to finish my egg nog, wipe my Hot Apple Cider bōbē Lip Balm smudge off my computer screen and go to bed.
