 Singing with Sylvia for Christmas

Singing with Sylvia's Concert Series

Singing with Sylvia's Concert Series

I got a little lump in my throat this morning as I purchased tickets for Singing with Sylvia's A-May-Zing Fling.

Singing with Sylvia consistently has been on repeat in the soundtrack of my children's childhoods. For nine straight years, I have brought one or both of my kids to Sylvia Chave's Concert Series. We own all of her CDs and know all of her catchy lyrics by heart. Sylvia's Halloween and Christmas shows have become a much-anticipated part of my family's holiday traditions, and we often bring along various groups of cousins and friends to share the fun.

Today it hit me that the two upcoming A-May-Zing Fling  performances are the last in Sylvia's 2017-18 Concert Series. And, as my daughter enters Grade 1 next year, this very well may be the last day-time Sylvia concert that we can attend. {Cue the throat lump.}

This feeling subsides a bit as I remember Sylvia usually offers a couple evening showtimes during the holidays. Perhaps her class could take a field trip to a Sylvia show next year? Or, if all else fails, I'm sure I could find a neighbour kid to bring with me to a morning show in the future, right?

The A-May-Zing Fling is always a fun way to sing, sway and celebrate the arrival of spring in Saskatoon.  Follow Singing with Sylvia's Fan Page on Facebook, where you can listen to a few of the seasonal rhymes and songs that you can expect to hear at the concert.

There are two showtimes to choose from on May 10: a morning show at 10 a.m. and a 1 p.m. afternoon show. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 through ontheboards.ca or at the door for $10. Children under the age of 2 are free. Group rates are available for daycares, schools and preschools by calling the Refinery Box Office to book, 306-653-5191.

Thanks for all the wonderful memories, Sylvia! My girlie and I look forward to making a few more with you on May 10.

Sylvia brought my son onto her lap at
her Orange Album CD release in 2011.
Hard to believe this baby boy is now 9!
