canada day celebrations 2010
How are you celebrating Canada Day this year? There are a few options for getting out and about with your little one on Canada Day.
  • The Optimist Canada Day Celebration at Diefenbaker Park is a day-long party with breakfast, free entertainment, rides and fun for the kids, yummy food including celebratory cake, and fireworks!  Click here for more details from The StarPhoenix.
  • Old-fashioned Dominion Day Celebrations will be held at the Marr Residence, which is the oldest building in Saskatoon still on its original site. Games, entertainment and refreshments will be offered at this venue.
  • The Meewasin Valley Centre will be offering a Canada Day Celebration and crafts for the kids. The kiddos can learn the history of our flag and can make a Canadian Flag windsock and enjoy some more celebratory Canada Day cake.  (If you work your timing right, you can get two free pieces of Canada Day cake. See first event.)
  • The Saskatoon Fly 'n' Fair at Corman Airpark promises children's activities, airplane rides, antique tractors, model rockets, food and more starting at noon.
  • And, of course, the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is still running throughout the city. Check out the free stages and the other family-friendly options!
What have I missed?  What are your plans for Canada Day?

  1. Traditions. Family and friends and kids in in the backyard. Red and white food and drink, running through the sprinkler, lawn games and mosquito repellent. Its my favourite holiday!

  2. This year our family will be watching the Rider game in Regina - not sure if we'll mix the red and green but a great way to celebrate Canada Day!
