 Singing with Sylvia for Christmas

be in motion on family day

The Saskatoon City Council has once again declared the Feb. 15 holiday as "Family in motion Day." The In Motion community partnership is encouraging Saskatoon families to make physical activity a Family Day tradition.

You could take in the free family skate at Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval between 1 and 3 p.m. today. There will be music, hot chocolate and an outside fire pit available if the skating doesn't warm you up enough.

There is also a free family tennis event at the Saskatoon Field House between noon and 4 p.m. today. Equipment and instructors will be available for those who would like to learn to play tennis.

Or, you could choose to romp around in the snow, take in a family walk along the Meewasin Trail or through the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo (which is free in winter), go for a cross-country ski, build a snowman, hit the hills for some tobogganing or visit one of these places to be physically active in Saskatoon this Family Day.

However, you choose to be active on Family Day, share your story and photos for a chance to win some cool prizes like a family ski adventure at Table Mountain. Send your name, address, phone number and "in motion" story and photos to inmotion@saskatoonhealthregion.ca by Feb. 23, 2010.
